The global airline industry has extremely complex processes to collect revenues from interline partners even with special agreements
in place, the process is tedious and complicated. Airlines rely on systems to validate correctly their portion of an interline segment,
however, more than often, the systems in place must be constantly updated to manage the continuous changes in the industry.
Typically airlines must rely on accounting software that is provided by third parties. These systems must be continually updated to remain
current with new data on fuel surcharges, taxes and other add-ons and fees. The same software must assist the revenue accounting staff that
reviews inter-airline charges to determine the accuracy of such billings.
What is Interline Archeology?
As the name suggests, “interline archeology” (InterArc) is all about digging up lost treasures. In this case the treasure to be recovered
is interline revenue that has been lost to undiscovered over billing inaccuracies. What’s more, if it’s not retrieved within six months
it will likely stay buried forever.
